My Wish for You in 2010

My Wish for You in 2010

May peace break into your home and
may thieves come to steal your debts.

May the pockets of your jeans
become a magnet for $100 bills.

May love stick to your face like Vaseline
and may laughter assault your lips!

May happiness slap you across the face
and may your tears be that of joy

May the problems you had,
forget your home address!

In simple words ............

May 2010 be the best year of your life!!

Happy New Year!!

.

Recipe for a Prosperous, Peaceful Year-Round Year!

Recipe for a Prosperous, Peaceful Year-Round Year!

Take twelve, fine, full-grown months,
see that these are thoroughly free
from all old memories of bitterness,
rancor, hate and jealousy;
cleanse them completely from
every clinging spite:
pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness;
in short , see that these months are freed from all the past;
have them as fresh and clean
as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time.

Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts.
This batch will keep for just one year.
Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time
(so many persons spoil the entire lot in this way),
but prepare one day at a time, as follows:

Into each day put twelve parts of faith,
eleven of patience,
ten of courage,
nine of of work (some people omit this ingredient
and so spoil the flavor of the rest),
eight of hope,
seven of fidelity,
six of liberality,
five of kindness,
four of rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad, don't do it),
three of prayer,
two of meditation,
and one well selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples,
put in about a teaspoonful of good spirits,
a dash of fun, a pinch of folly,
a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Pour into the whole love ad libitum and mix with a vim.
Cook thoroughly in a fervent heat;
garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy;
then serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness,
and a Happy New Year is certain.

36 STRESS BUSTERS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Stress Busters
==============

36 Stress Reducers

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No, to projects that won't fit into your time schedule
or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are
often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects
over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a
concern, find out what God would have you to do and let go
of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation,
forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary
purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra
house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.,
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut.) This single piece of advice can
prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough exercise.
18. Eat right.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your
quality of life.
21. Write thoughts and inspirations down.
22. Everyday, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until its time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair
and hope is often a good "Thank you, Jesus!"
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but yourself, not at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best
they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33. Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the
universe.
36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful
for that you've never been grateful for before.

HUMOR FOR TODAY

The Story of a Challenged senior...At a certain age, everyone will understand this poor guy...

I thought about the 30 year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a Blackberry that played music, took videos, pictures and communicated with Facebook and Twitter.

I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grandkids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space.

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife as everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. Seems I have to take my hearing aid out to use it and I got a little loud.

I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-ul-ating" You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then when I would make a right turn instead, it was not good.

When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GSP lady, at least she loves me.

To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.

The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop.

I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused but I never remember to take them in with me.

Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?"

I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual.." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look.

KID SAFE COCKTAILS FOR NEW YEARS EVE

COLORFUL COCKTAILS
If your kids get no kick from plain ginger ale,
have them try out these colorful cocktails.

TRIPLE RED SHIRLEY TEMPLE

1 oz. grenadine syrup
6 oz. cranberry juice
4 oz. cranberry ginger ale
1 paper umbrella
3 maraschino cherries
Orange slice
Ice (optional)

Mix the syrup, cranberry juice and ginger ale
in a tall glass. Open the umbrella and slide
the three cherries onto the handle. Balance
the umbrella on the glass rim in front
of the orange slice.

NEW YEAR'S SUNRISE

4 oz. seltzer
6 oz. orange juice
1/2 oz. grenadine syrup
1 orange slice
1 lemon slice
1 maraschino cherry
Plastic toothpick

In a tall glass, mix the seltzer and orange
juice. Slowly pour the grenadine into the
center of the glass, allowing the syrup to
settle on the bottom (thanks to its greater
density). Garnish with the orange, lemon
and cherry, stacked and skewered
with the toothpick.

STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

4 oz. papaya juice
2 oz. pineapple juice
4 oz. ginger ale
Lemon and lime peel
1 or 2 slices of star fruit
Ice (optional)

In a tall glass, mix the papaya and pineapple
juices and the ginger ale. For the garnish,
use a small, star-shaped cookie cutter to cut
star shapes from the lemon and lime peels.
Slide the slices of star fruit onto the glass rim.

.

The Bubble Stomp...for New Years Eve

.

Just before midnight,
unroll large bubbled bubble wrap
on a hard surface, such as a wooden
floor or driveway, and when the
countdown concludes,
everyone does the

"Bubble Wrap Stomp."

.

A DEFINITION OF THE NEW YEAR

A DEFINITION OF THE NEW YEAR

The new year is a door
By which we reach new fields
Of service for God and fellow man:
A door by which we can explore
Wide spheres of usefulness
Our world to bless,
And reap the sheaves God's word of witness yields.

The new year is a task
Set by the Master of our souls,
A little part of our life's work below:
And so we ask holy wisdom which alone controls Our labor,
teaching what and where to sow:
That the year, at its end,
May show God's glory and man's profit blend.

The new year is a book
With many pages, and as yet all white
On which to write
The history of thought, and deed, and word
In this new group of days.
We pray thee, Lord,
As thou shalt look upon the book,
When written over, may all be to Thy praise.

CREATING CHRISTMAS FREEBIE #24

THIS set is a greeting card layout for the story called
THE CHRISTMAS TOWEL.

The file includes the jpg files of each side of the card.
If you don't know how to make your printer print it
to line up by doing both sides, I'd recomment printing
both and using double stick tape to attach them together.

If you want to get real fancy, you can make it look like a
quilt or some such and put a ruffle lace between the layers
sticking out all around the card. You can use this in any
fashion that you choose.

When I gave these as gifts, I fan-folded the kitchen
towel and then folded in half. Now at that fold, tie a
ribbon/bow and then fan out the top. I used a safety
pin to attach to the two sides in the center together to
hold the fan shape a bit better and attached the card to
that safety pin. I've also seen these done as a roll and
simply wrapped in cellophane.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION

THE CHRISTMAS TOWEL

The Towel

At first glance, one looks at a kitchen towel and thinks,
“Now, a towel...I needed a new one. The old ones are getting stained and worn."
But have we ever stopped to think that for years, even thousands of years,
the towel has not just been used in the kitchen, but for a variety of reasons?

Take example the mother who wipes the tears of a child to soothe
the physical and emotional hurt, the physician who binds the wound of a bleeding patient,
the woman in her home, wiping her hands as she moves from task to task,
the weary traveler who wipes his sweated brow. Some other examples would be
the manager of a boxer who "throws in the towel" to save the life of his protégé
or the young man wiping the grease off his hands as he fixes his old jalopy.

Notwithstanding all of the above examples, perhaps the most significant use
of the towel was about two thousand years ago when our loving Savior,
took an ordinary towel in his hands and dried the feet of the disciples
only hours before his crucifixion.
Sure, the towel is a handy item with a myriad of uses, but it also has deep symbolic meaning
when seen in the hands of the Savior doing a work of kindness for his fellow men.

So take this towel, knowing it is given with love, and do works of goodness with it,
as the Savior worked goodness with his so many years ago.

Merry Christmas

CREATING CHRISTMAS FREEBIE #22

This is a recipe card project I did several years ago for
a friend of mine. The images I used are ones I was given
over various yahoo groups sharing PSP tubes or off the
net at royalty free sites. I have no idea who to give credit
to for any of them; this is shared with no intentions of
claiming them as my own or making a profit from them.
The template is my own.

The finished cards are 100PPI.
The height is 4.7" with the tab.
The width is 5.990"

The zip file you will download includes both the
finished layouts as well as the templates.
There are also JPG and PNG files in the zip.

I made this template after I saw at the scrapbook stores
many different kinds of rings that this can be put on.
I would suggest printing and laminating everything; punch
the holes where indicated so they all line up; and then use
whatever rings suits your colors or style.

*NOTE: Not all is shown in the preview.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

ADVENT CALENDAR

This idea was shared on a blog called

SIMPLY SARAH

I wrote and asked for her permission to share
her post with my readers. This is the introduction
to her post with the link following to go to her
blog to see how it is all carried out:

I’m so excited about the Advent Calendar the kids and I have been working on. I grew up with an Advent Calendar as a part of our Christmas celebration. We eagerly opened each door to find the candy behind it. We’d read the Advent devotionals, light the advent wreath/candles each Sunday, excitedly anticipating Christmas Day and Jesus Birth.

This year I wanted to find a way to combine all of those traditions and point to the Savior each day. I didn’t care so much about the chocolate – I wanted something else to be “hidden” behind each door. I wanted the kids to seek Jesus. He is, after all, the reason for the season.

So this is the result of my quest to create the “perfect” Advent calendar.
I hope you enjoy it! And I’d LOVE to hear about your Advent traditions.

To create the “scene” for my Advent calendar,
I purchased a miniature Christmas tree (or will purchase one).

Under the Christmas tree, I placed 25 folded paper boxes (directions for how to make these are listed below). I numbered each box 1 through 25. So box 1 would be open on December 1st, and so on. Now I do realize that Advent traditionally begins on the 4th Sunday before Christmas, but for simplicity sake, and so that we can reuse this from year to year,
we’re doing it 25 days of December.

THANK YOU Sarah for letting me share it here!
MERRY CHRISTMAS

CREATING CHRISTMAS FREEBIE #16

I made the template for this favor box
back in 2005. It really makes up for a
cute favor cup/box at a place setting
for each person at the dinner, or to just
have set in various places with small
candies in them. You can also use as
a small container hold a small gift
that you've wrapped in tissue or other
wrapping paper to give to someone.
One more idea is as an ornament with
something special placed inside...

not able to find an email for the author of

me to remember my manners and say
