Long Time No See

HELLO TO EVERYONE!

I am unsure where to even begin with an update.
I have been well, just extremely busy!  There
has been little to no time for me to be creative
let alone keep up with my blog.  I do apologize
for the extended absence.

My surgery went well.  I was back in the hospital
with a severe case of gastroenteritis.  Got over
that, but it took about 2 full months to get to the
point that I could function to any level of
decency.  Then the holidays came around.  I also
had to go out of town for 8 days to take care
of family business at Dad's house.  Our son was
home for most of the month of December to
celebrate Christmas and stand up in a wedding.

The wedding was for very close family friends.
Their son is 7 weeks older than our son and the
boys grew up together most of their childhood.
It was great to be included in the wedding
activities!  I was asked to help make center-
pieces for the tables at the reception as well as
favors for each place setting.  I made favors
for each place setting at the rehearsal dinner as
well.  It really was an honor to be able to help
and participate in all the events leading up to
and including the wedding.  Our 13 year old
daughter helped make a lot of the projects too.
She likes to be crafty with mom!  Our son
stood up as one of the groomsmen and he was
in his military uniform.  What a handsome
young man he has become!!  And the bride
and groom were simply gorgeous!

December was a fantastic month full of blessings
and happiness!!

January came around with just as much
activities and to be honest as I sit here right now
can't even recall what everything has been...but
it has been NON-stop!

As far as my well-being...  I have lost a total
of 103 pounds since my highest weight was
ever recorded.  And a total of 74 pounds
since my surgery date.  I feel fantastic!  I am
really eager for my knees to finally realize the
weight loss is supposed to make them feel
better and function better!  In the meantime, I
am still using my walker and not exercising like
I should be.  I pray for this to happen ASAP!

I have a lot of recipe pages to share and will
begin sharing them again ASAP!  I am going to
try to get into creating things again.  But it
really is difficult to make that time to sit on
the computer lately.  Hang in there with me and
things will start coming back together.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me
private notes and sent encouragement and love!
~~~It is all appreciated beyond belief!~~~
NET CARBS vs TOTAL CARBS???
I am confused!!
I NEED HELP figuring out
NET CARBS...
I have a product (to remain annonymous for now) that says TOTAL CARB 22g, dietary fiber 10g, sugars 1g, and sugar alcohols 0g. PROTEIN 18g. On the front it says NET CARBs are only 1g. I thought net carbs was total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols...I must be wrong because the net carb count on this doesn't make sense then. Can someone please educate me on the correct way to figure this out... THANKS in advance!
Okay...I've had a few folks ask me to share the label with them in order for them to help me.  So this is what the two products are that I currently have.  I have two other products from this company but have not eaten them yet.  I really want to figure out the correct way to figure this out before I eat much more of this stuff................
BLESSINGS ABOUND despite setbacks!
Hello and hugs to everyone!  This has been an amazing time in my life.  I never expected things to go the way they have, but I do believe GOD IS GOOD and all will be good in the end!  My girlfriend's favorite phrase for me lately is "This too shall pass!"
I had my gastric bypass surgery on August 18th.  I was released and sent home on August 22nd.  I have to admit it was difficult at first.  The thought of trying to swallow anything was not fun, but finally was able to get into the swing of things and was doing so well!  Then, a huge speed bump hit me!  A severe case of gastroenteritis!  My stomach was so nauseous ~ I couldn't hardly lift my head off the pillow!  The diarrhea was unending and relentless despite the fact that I literally was only living on the few sips of water I managed to swallow!  I had a doctor appt to get the staples removed and that happened to be the 4th day of all of this.  He sent me to a GI Doctor.  This doctor suggested I go through the emergency room, get admitted and receive IV Fluids for the next 24 hours and I would be a whole new person!  I could only dream it be that easy!  But, not for me!  I was finally admitted and in my room late that day.  The next two days were so miserable that I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy (if I had any!)  The vomitting had started and smells of any kind were so horrible that I couldn't even handle someone walking down the hall with perfume on!  But Sunday finally hit ... 5th day of this hospital stay ... and I felt like a whole new person!  I was sent home that night and told "things will get better slowly but surely!".
Today I am still struggling to gain strength and drive, but I am slowly getting there.  INCH BY INCH IT IS A CINCH!  That is my new motto!  I must do things calculated and planned as well as slow for safety.  I am still under lifting restrictions and need to sleep in an elevated position for a few more weeks.  But all in all, every day is a bit better and I accomplish a bit more than the day before.  I am now driving again... that was a huge accomplishment, in my opinion!
I really want to thank all of you that have said prayers, sent notes, and shown support and encouragement!  I covet every one of them so much!  GOD IS GOOD and prayer/faith in numbers causes miracles!  THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!
Just Letting You Know
I really have been "torn" on whether or not to bring this up on my blog.  However, I have decided that I really should just so that those of you that follow me don't think I've thrown in the towel or fallen off the face of the earth.
I am having surgery this month.  It is scheduled for August 18th.  Since my father-in-law lives with us and we take care of him, I am having some apprehensive feelings about this whole thing because I am going to be basically "out of commission" for anywhere from 2 - 8 weeks after the surgery.  That leaves quite a load of responsibility on my husband and youngest daughter.  After that 2 - 8 week time period, I still have a lot of adjustments and life changes going on.  The surgery I'm having is an RNY.  So it is major surgery and major changes!
I will pop in from time to time to update, but there won't be many creations to share for at least a month.  Bear with me and know that I am not quitting the computer crafting ... it is my sanity!  I just need to take a leave of absence for a short time.  I appreciate your understanding and any prayers for healing and such are appreciated!  Thank you!!
SMUGGLES to you all
BRIDAL SHOWER FAVORS
I have been busy busy busy trying to get
some Bridal Shower Favors done for some
very close family friends.  Their son is
getting married in December, however,
because of school, work and life issues,
it is tricky getting everything arranged
and accomplished since he lives in
Illinois, but is getting married in Florida
and his bride-to-be has been living
in another state and soon to be
back in Florida (I believe)...
At any rate, the mom of the groom has
asked if I wanted to help with the shower
and I jumped at it!  Their son is 7 weeks
older exactly than our oldest is.  Our son
and their son grew up playing together!
So, their son calls us Aunt and Uncle
and vice-versa!  We are really blessed
to have such great friends in our lives!
We love them all dearly and would do
ANYTHING for them!
I am honored to be able to help
out with the wedding too...
It is a great feeling to know the kids
want us involved with their
wedding plans!
Here is a picture of all of the favors I
have made.  Some are going to be
used at the Rehearsal Dinner and
some at the Bridal Shower ...
but there will maybe be more
to come too...
this is just what I've gotten
done as of today!
This is a preview of the item
#2 above...
the candle favor
This is the poem card inside the box.
You can click on it to have it open
full size to read and save for your
personal use if you'd like.
Here is the rolled candy.
These are Breathsavers/MINTS.
Again, you can click to open the label
and save to your own computer for
personal use if you'd like.
The one I used was personalized
with the Bride and Groom names.
The one you will get if you want
is NOT personallized.
