PATRIOTIC TEMPLATE FREEBIES

This placemat is a 9x12 image so to fit it on a piece
of paper, you need to make sure your printer is set
to FIT TO PAGE and do it in LANDSCAPE mode.

The salt and pepper shaker labels fit onto those
disposable picnic shakers you can buy as a set at
most grocery stores or walmart type stores.

The greeting card can be used to wish someone Happy 4th,
or as an invitation to come to a party!
You could even use it to say THANK YOU to someone
you know serving time in the military!

RhondaSue

MEMORIAL DAY

Let us take a few moments this Memorial Day to reflect on the meaning of the day, to observe the day and be mindful of the sacrifices of others before we go and enjoy the freedoms they bought for us.

The "Memorial" in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us who are beneficiaries of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Often we do not observe the day as it should be, a day where we actively remember our ancestors, our family members, our loved ones, our neighbors, and our friends who have given the ultimate sacrifice:

  • by visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on the graves of our fallen heroes.
  • by visiting memorials.
  • by flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.
  • by flying the 'POW/MIA Flag' as well (Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act).
  • by participating in a "National Moment of Remembrance": at 3 p.m. to pause and think upon the true meaning of the day, and for Taps to be played.
  • by renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers, and orphans of our falled dead, and to aid the disabled veterans.

HUG A GI DAY - POCKET PATRIOT FREEBIE -- MARCH 4th

This is a special day to my heart!
Our son is in the United States Air Force!

When is it:???
Always March 4th

Today is a day that we all can embrace.
It's "Hug a GI Day".

Give a great big hug to any and all GIs you see
today.  The men and women in our armed forces
deserve our thanks and appreciation.

GI's perform an invaluable service to our country.
They risk their lives for our freedom,
and to keep us safe.
A simple hug is a small thanks for this
vital service to our country.

In my google search of information about this day,
I found this quote:
"I think the origin of the holiday is because of the
date.  It’s the only date in the calendar
that is an order…
March Forth!
It’s a military thing."
--Sabrina Honda, USAF

HAPPY VETERANS DAY: Pocket Patriot Freebie

I made this many years ago and have shared it over and over and over....
I hope there is still a need for it ... there are so many of our family members
that are in a service and no matter what their job/position/location/or
training, they are all FIGHTING FOR US TO KEEP OUR FREEDOM!

The word THANKS is just not enough, but it is the least that we can ALL do.
Please ... whenever you see someone in uniform, at the grocery store, at the
airport, in church, walking down the sidewalk,
PLEASE SAY THANKS TO THEM!

Our son is an Airman in the United States Air Force.
We are SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!

* ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

Copy this poem and send it on
and some glad day when all wars are gone
this little chain of living prayer,
may have helped bring peace for the world to share.

Whisper each word as you write it down,
"O God, who smiles on the king and clown,
shower your love on each human heart,
for only from love can a real Peace start"

So whatever your language, race or creed,
send this on for someone to read -
Let's circle the world with a prayer for peace,
for God alone can make all wars cease.

SOLDIERS

May no soldier go unloved,
May no soldier walk alone,
May no soldier be forgotten,
Until they all come home.

I came across this saying while surfing the other day and just had to share it here. I don't know who the author is and if anyone knows, please tell me so I can give full credit. Our son is in the AirForce, as you know, and even though he is not in a combat zone, the fear and worry for him and all those he is with is great! The following poem was shared with me a while back. Even though our son isn't married nor does he have children here to run in fields of grass as the poem says, he is still there fighting for the same freedom and the same passion as this poem shares. My step-brothers daughter is also in the AirForce. My sons best friend enlisted at the same time as he did too. LOVE OF PRAYERS AND LOVE AND SUPPORT TO ALL OUR TROOPS!

The Things That Make A Soldier Great

The things that make a soldier great and send him out to die
To face the flaming cannon's mouth and never question why
Are lilacs by a little porch, the row of tulips red
The peonies and pansies too, the old petunia bed
The grass plot where his children play, the roses on the wall
Tis these that make a soldier great, he's fighting for them all.

Tis not the pomp and pride of kings that make a soldier brave
Tis not allegiance to the flag that over him may wave
For soldiers never fight so well on land or on the foam
As when behind the cause they see the little place called home
Endanger but that humble street whereon his children run
You make a soldier of the man who never bore a gun

What is it through the battle smoke the valiant soldier sees
The little garden far away, the budding apple trees
The little patch of ground back there, the children at their play
Perhaps a tiny mound behind the simple church of gray
The golden thread of courage isn't linked to castle dome
But to the spot where'er it be - the humble spot called home

And now the lilacs bloom again and all is lovely there
And homesick soldiers far away know spring is in the air
The tulips come to bloom again, the grass once more is green
And every man can see the spot where all his joys have been
He sees his children smile at him, he hears the bugle call
And only death can stop him now he's fighting for them all
