CHRISTMAS TOPPERS

I always put myself through so much stress to finish projects last minute.  I wish I could learn just once to do more ahead and get things done way before the last minute time frame!!!  But I thoroughly enjoyed making this project for my fellow co-workers and really am glad that they all seemed to like them too!

I have been shopping for MONTHS to prepare for a Christmas themed craft show.  But in early November, my neighbor decided she wasn't going to do the craft show and since I've never done this particular one I really didn't want to do it alone.  SO...  I have had lots of stock building over the past several months to get enough supplies on hand for my own booth.  Well, I let my daughter and her friends eat most of the specialized candy...  But I have had quite a stash of MUGS being saved for many different kinds of projects.  Starting the first week of November I focused on stocking up more on Christmas mugs than anything else.  I actually was able to get 34 different mugs!  And guess what?  There are 34 employees on the payroll at work!  HOW AMAZING IS THAT?

Inside of each mug I added one candy cane, 8 Hershey Kisses, one pkt of SwissMiss Classic Hot Cocoa, a small ziploc baggie of mini marshmallows.  I also made Reindeer Noses and Elf Pillows to add to the gift bag.  Then to put it all together I made a topper tag of SNOWMAN SOUP.

There is one girl that I have gotten to be friends with that collects penguins.  And low and behold, she was the name given to me for the SECRET SANTA GIFT EXCHANGE too yet!  WOOT WOOT!  I had fun splurging on penguin goodies everywhere I went shopping!  You can spot the penguin mug above right?  It even had a hat used as a lid to the mug!  And the goodies inside went into a penguin drawstring bag!  And the only bag different from the rest to put all 34 mugs into was the penguin bag you see on the left side of the pic!  I had so much fun putting ALL of these together!

After each mug filled with its sweetness got put into its own bag, I added a REINDEER NOSES and an ELF PILLOWS packets to each bag.  Then folded over one inch or so at the top and stapled the SNOWMAN SOUP topper to that.

The picture I took of the finished project was so blurry you couldn't make them out... so I am sorry to say I can't share what they all looked like completely finished!  Very disappointed in that...but you get the mail idea I think with everything else I've described I hope.
And then to top it off, I baked 28 loaves of Banana Bread yesterday.  Everything from 2" up to 8" loaves.  It was the first time I used that recipe and it was SO SO SO GOOD! I just couldn't stop!  We delivered them to four of our neighbors as a gift for Christmas.  I gave one to my "penguin friend" today.  We are eating one.  I put the little mini's on snowman plates and surrounded them with REINDEER NOSES (round circle pretzels with a hershey kiss melted inside and a red m-n-m pressed into the center of that then cooled to set up solid again) and a few wrapped Hershey kisses too.  These plates of goodies went to our daughter's boyfriends dad for Christmas and another neighbor.  They all liked them and put smiles on their faces.

This is my favorite time of the year!  I love to do all these R.A.C.K.s...  and it is so heartwarming to see everyone's smiles and happiness!

NO NOODLES ABOUT IT and APPLE CRISP DINNER

I was surfing the web looking for some LOW CARB recipes and came across the following two recipes that I wanted to try.  The first one is for THE BEST LOW CARB LASAGNA.  I have seen many recipes using zucchini slices instead of pasta noodles.  This one caught my attention because of the addition of vegetables besides the zucchini.  I sliced my zucchini about half as thick as their picture shows theirs so I did NOT bake mine in the oven first.  I felt it was thin enough to do "it's thing" in the oven while baking assembled.  And I was right.  They were perfectly tender and tasty! For my meat layer, I used the best quality ground chuck mixed with some Cudighi Sausage (sample recipe and history at that link) that the local grocery store I work for makes themselves.  I did not add any more salt or pepper because the Cudighi is seasoned well!  It was DELICIOUS!!!!!!  I will be making this one again when my husband his home from his TOUR in Australia.  It's a keeper!

Picture by DASHING DISH

The next recipe I did was for an APPLE CRISP for dessert.  It is also a winner!

I used SPLENDA granular sugar in place of the white sugar in the apple layer; as well as SPLENDA brown sugar in the crumble layer.  I wanted to use almond flour in the apple mixture, but I honestly don't know if it would have the "binding" effect as the all purpose flour does.  I am pretty sure the flavor would be okay because nuts and apples do go together.  But the purpose of the flour is important so I didn't venture into that experiment yet.  The topping of the drizzled CARMEL was delicious and SUGAR FREE because I used the one available from Walden Farms.  I found it at a local grocery store, but this link shows you what it is.... HERE

Glad I could share these WINNERS with you!
Have fun and PLAY with your food!

The Liebster Award

WOW... I am so honored!  I have been doing this blog since April 2008.  Over all these years, I've had spurts of time to create and share and other times where it just was not possible.  But everyone has been so kind and supportive no matter what was going on.  I want to THANK all my followers as well as visitors for that support...  I've received tons of private notes, prayers, encouragement, and lots of comments left on the blog.  THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH to VICKY from CRAFTING VICKY for gifting me with this award!  I'm honored and so blessed to be part of a fantastic "family" with all the friends of CREATE WITH TLC

ABOUT THE AWARD
Liebster is a German word meaning "Beloved," "Favorite," or "Dearest." This award is a peer to peer award in which fellow bloggers present the award to their favorite bloggers with less than 200 followers. The origins of this award is unclear, but is believed to have originated by a German blogger. This award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion to share your dearest and most beloved blogs that have less than 200 followers.
RULES FOR ACCEPTANCE
Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Post the award onto your blog. Give the award to five bloggers who you appreciate that have less than 200 followers. Leave a comment on their blog letting them know that you have given them this awesome award!

PAY IT FORWARD
Now comes the hard part… choosing another 5!  Wow not an easy task.  What helped is that many of the blogs that I like have received it already so I’m passing on to some that haven’t  yet received the award and that have less than 200 followers.  And of course all those blogs are some that I really love, follow and that give me inspiration!

Here's my list of people that I'm passing this on:

Gilly's Place at  http://gilly-gillysplace.blogspot.com/

Fran at  http://scallopsandswirls.blogspot.com/

Lori at  http://www.happybirdscraftinghaven.com/

Jennifer at http://sugarbuttdesigns.com/

 Bri at http://www.beautybloggerbri.blogspot.com/

Please take some time to give some support to these FABULOUS BLOGGERS and ONLINE FRIENDS ...  They are all different themes and many reasons why I enjoy each one.  So go see for yourself why they are so good!  They are trusted sites and all family oriented!

Thank you, again VICKY...

Have a great week everyone!

REINDEER FOOD and DUSTPAN COOKIES

REINDEER FOOD
NOTE: This is for fun and not to be eaten!
You will need plain Oatmeal, Birdseed, Rice Crispies
and Multi Color Glitter.
Take 1 part of each and put into a plastic bag.
Shake well and add the below poem.
On Christmas Eve let the kids sprinkle the Reindeer Food
all over the yard.
POEM
Make a wish and close your eyes tight,
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly & roam
This food will guide them to your home.
For your gift to the reindeer and Rudolph too
Your wish may be real, your dreams may come true.
*NOTE... There is EDIBLE GLITTER available at Michaels.
*NOTE #2... I prefer adding colored cereals like Fruity Pebbles or something to be like the multicolored glitter.  Then it doesn't matter what critter or child might eat from the baggie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DUSTPAN COOKIES
Simply bake up your favorite batch of cookies – place them on the dustpan;
then take a few & crumble into smaller pieces (to show that you swept them up…
even though you didn’t!)  Wrap the Dustpan with cellophane
and add a bow & gift tag with the following poem:
I was in a hurry,
‘Cuz time was running out.
I’d baked a batch of cookies for you,
And when I turned about,
I saw they’d fallen on the floor.
It made me want to shout!
How could this happen at this time,
When time was running out.
I couldn’t throw them in the trash.
Whatever could I do!
I quickly swept them in this pan,
And rushed them off to you.
Or—
I was baking some cookies
When they dropped on the floor.
So I scooped them right up
And rushed them to your door!
Apple Cini Steelcut Oats Breakfast
I am always looking at recipes online as well as cookbooks.  I used to collect cookbooks.  Before our last move, I donated almost half of them to various places.  But now, I still look for anything that "looks good" and I would actually consider making not just to "collect" it.  This recipe is one of those I came across online and printed for use at some point.  Last night I decided to throw it together and see what happens.  After I put it into the crockpot, I sat down and made the scrapbook page layout to share with you.  Then this morning we took pictures of it to show you how it turned out.  IT WAS DELICIOUS!  Only thing I think I have a problem with is that I started it at 10PM and we didn't eat till 7:30am so I think it was in the crockpot too long.  Next time I think I will plan that timing a little better.
All the digital elements I used in the recipe scrap page layout are from Paulette at Create with TLC.
Just right click and tell it to open in a new window or tab and it will open to full size for you to save to your own computer.  I made this in 200DPI so it is better for printing than the typical 72 or 100 dpi images.  Just tell your printer to FIT TO PAGE or whatever similar setting your brand printer might use.
Again, this image will open larger for better viewing as well.
I recommend trying this anytime!!
HAPPY FALL YA'LL!
